Description
Shea (Butyrospermum parkii) is a tree native to the African continent, where it is called the "Tree of Youth". It has fragrant flowers and its fleshy fruit, similar to a plum, encloses a woody core containing a seed from whose pulp the precious Shea Butter is obtained, of variable color from light green to yellowish, with a pleasant smell, which is used for massages against rheumatism, burns, sunburn, ulcerations and skin irritations.
Shea Butter has remarkable moisturizing, anti-wrinkle, healing, soothing, re-epithelizing, anti-stretch mark, film-forming and protective properties; since it has a good filtering capacity against the sun's rays, it is an excellent protective and preventive of skin damage caused by exposure to light and the sun, such as the formation of free radicals, the early appearance of wrinkles and sunburn.
Shea Butter, in addition to being very rich in vitamins A, B, E, F and therefore an excellent anti-wrinkle agent, contains a very high percentage of unsaponifiable fatty acids, substances which improve skin tone and keep it elastic, as they intervene in physiological process of collagen and elastin formation. It also promotes local circulation, making the skin brighter.
It is indicated for skin dryness, dermatitis, rashes, burns, redness (it's an excellent after-sun product!), ulcerations, skin irritations. Prevents stretch marks, recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding, to also prevent breast fissures, and to preserve the skin of the newborn from diaper rash. It prevents and softens calluses on the hands and feet, it is also an excellent remedy for irritation caused by the razor, both as an emollient pre-shave wrap and as a soothing, moisturizing and nourishing aftershave. In bedridden people, the daily application of Shea Butter prevents the formation of redness and bedsores.
At room temperature, shea butter is solid, but it is sufficient to heat it slightly to be able to use it as a carrier, in synergy with vegetable oils or essential oils, thus preparing a personalized body treatment.
