Neem – Le Erbe di Janas

Indian tree of the Meliaceae family that reaches 30 meters in height and needs very little water to survive. Neem is known in Ayurveda for its potent disease-fighting efficacy. 

HAIR: Neem has many properties: anti-inflammatory, antifungal, antiviral, sebum-regulating, astringent and purifying. Used to combat dry scalp, itching and severe dandruff, ailments which it also helps prevent if used consistently. Makes hair shiny.

SKIN: Useful in case of dermatitis and redness, it can be applied to the skin for acne, fungi, psoriasis, urticaria. Strengthens the immune system and gives a feeling of freshness. Used with a vegetable oil, it helps in dry skin disorders, against itching and eczema redness. Useful for diaper sores and bedsores. Healing, eliminates excess sebum and flames pimples, as well as clearing them.

HISTORY and CURIOSITIES: in India è chiamato Albero divino, e all'inizio di ogni anno molti Indù mangiano qualche foglia come rito propiziatorio. Inoltre è un ottimo insetticida naturale, il suo legno infatti non viene attaccato neanche dalle tarme.

Method of use:

Mescolare la polvere con acqua bollente fino ad arrivare alla consistenza di uno yogurt. Aggiungere eventuali altre Erbe. Coprire e lasciar macerare per 20 minuti. Applicare la pasta su capelli asciutti o bagnati e massaggiare con leggeri movimenti circolari. Applicare ciò che resta sulle lunghezze. Lasciare in posa 20/50 minuti. Risciacquare abbondantemente e fare uno Shampoo leggero e diluito, come il nostro shampoo all'Elicriso selvatico della Sardegna. Un ultimo risciacquo con acqua e aceto aiuta a mantenere la chioma lucida e morbida.

As a face mask, it is recommended to mix it with clays or other herbs. Leave on for 10 minutes. Do not let the mask dry out, but keep it moist by dispensing water or hydrosols.
