Biobrush toothbrushes

● Evenly cut bristles
The rounded bristles manage to reach the interdental spaces. Important note: Don't forget to floss!
● Medium-soft bristles
According to expert opinion, using hard bristles can cause gum damage while still offering a good clean. They therefore recommend choosing soft bristles
● Medium sized head
allows you to reach all the teeth, facilitating access to the largest possible cleaning surface
● More tufts of bristles
Dense tufts of bristles ensure excellent cleaning results. However, it is important that there is space between the bristles to allow for quick drying while avoiding the accumulation of bacteria
● Angled head
makes it easier to reach the molars

Everything else is technology! Don't let others tell you how to brush your teeth while also saving the environment! And remember to floss!

Plastic, organic waste or non-recyclable waste bin?

Non-recyclable waste
Non-recyclable waste is incinerated. Thermal recycling produces heat and electricity. If the Biobrush toothbrush is disposed of as non-recyclable waste, it does not cause any damage, since it contains a very low amount of fossil materials, thus producing minimal carbon dioxide emissions. 

Plastic bin
This is the right bin for disposing of plastic and, therefore, also bioplastic. The most common types of plastic, such as PET or PP, are sorted and recycled in modern waste separation plants. Bioplastics, including ours, are not yet well known and are not considered a resource. It is then treated as a waste product and incinerated. 

In the future, an increase in the use of bioplastics will allow reaching a critical mass such as to make recycling in waste separation plants economically justifiable. The appropriate technical procedures are already being developed. Our toothbrushes can be recycled once the head and bristles have been removed and properly sorted. 

Bioplastic: do not throw it in the organic waste container
These containers are used to recycle organic waste to produce compost for use in agriculture. Composting times and nutrient content are of paramount importance. Bioplastic takes a long time to biodegrade so it should not be disposed of in the organic waste container. Currently, the disposal of bioplastics is a problem for waste separation plants that have to sort and incinerate it

What is there to know about our toothbrush?
The handle is biodegradable. The nylon bristles derived from castor oil and their attachment support make up approximately 6% of the total weight of the toothbrush and are not biodegradable! At the moment, an equally hygienic and biodegradable bristle material is not available on an industrial scale. In industrial composting systems, the bristles would therefore be a rot-proof material. Their place therefore is the plastic bin!

What happens if a Biobrush toothbrush ends up in the environment?
Traditional plastic takes more than 400 years to decompose completely. In 2013, the German Federal Environment Agency stated that the decomposition process is not complete even after 400 years. 

Bioplastics would take a fraction of this time to decompose. Depending on the weather conditions, the eco-friendly toothbrush 94% would degrade in a few years. Nylon is not yet biodegradable. As soon as an equally hygienic and biodegradable material for bristles becomes available on the market, we will use it.
